With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I have to recommend "The Young Victoria" as an excellent choice for a date movie.
Emily Blunt as Victoria and Rupert Friend as Prince Albert are very enjoyable. The always entertaining Paul Bettany is the twinkling Lord Melbourne.
Michelle, Kim, Jennifer and I saw this at the Edina Cinema, which has popcorn with real butter and a lovely ambiance. Jennifer recognized the dastardly Sir John Conroy as Mark Strong right away. She also joined me in sobbing at the end of the movie (it was a good cry).
With my movie rating system, it receives a half-Depp (that's three and a half stars, for the uninitiated). The movie is nominated for three Oscars, and I think it has a good chance for best costume. On with the Oscar season!
I highly recommend this good old romance. What other movies that are out right now would you recommend for a date night?
